How to Order

Dread FAQ

How long does my hair need to be to attach dreads?

Your hair will have to be at least 3 inches to be worth it; any shorter and the dreads just slip out, which can be very frustrating.

For falls, your hair must be long enough to form secure bunches/ponytail for them to be mounted on. Sometimes liberal use of hair pins can get them to stay put in shorter hair ;)

Which length of dreads should I order?

Short length Dreadfalls will come to roughly a little past the shoulder when attached, and the extra long length Dreadfalls generally reach waist length.

What do you make your dreads from?

We use kanekalon Black and Gold & RastaAfari brand hair.

How do I care for my Dreads
With just a bit of care and attention, your falls should last for ages. Try to store them somewhere that won't bend them out of shape, and give them a blast of Febreze or something similar to get rid of any nasty smells that may get into them over time.

How to wear your dreads

Step 1
The first step is to make basic high pigtails, or a single high ponytail or bun. How you chose is by the length of your hair and the look you want.

When using a ponytail, you can create a fuller look that looks great with a sash or band.

Pigtails can be worn to the sides for a fun and funky look. Pigtails can also be worn close together for a full back look for those with short hair.

You can also use a bun on top of the falls to give you a base for flowers, chopsticks or other decorations.

What ever look you chose start by making a ponytail or bun with an elastic band. While you can use the band on the falls as your base, you will  find using a band to secure your hair and then the band on the falls themselves the most secure.

Step 2
Take the elastic for the hair fall or dread and slide it over the ponytail, put the fall over the top of the head and tighten the band from the bottom. For pigtails place the elastics abound both of the buns. (Individually), and flip dreads over the ponytails.

If you are using the one ponytail method (recommended), you will need to attach second set of dreadlocks towards the front and flip backwards when attached (see above photo). Take a dreadlock from either side of the fall, and wrap them around the base of the ponytail for tightening. Please make sure to use hair clips, hair pins etc.

Step 3
Now that you have it tightened, simply flip the fall over your hair straighten and adjust the fall to create the best look and finish the other side.

Step 4
Voila! You have pretty falls; now add flowers, a sash whatever you like.

Notes:   I have tied a knot in the elastic in mine so that it goes around my bun / pony tail once only this has much less bulk, I then tie a couple of the dreads from each side in a half knot over the top of my bun so that they look more natural, I have also put both of them together on a medium size alligator clip so that they just clip on to the bun so I don’t have to wrap the elastic around the base of the bun too often.  If you come up with any other ways to attach them let me know and I’ll post it on the website.
