HOW TO WEAR A KUCHI OR TURKMANI HEADPIECE. Some of you have asked how to wear / attach a headpiece, it can be a bit of a puzzle, the best method I have seen is to make a kind of "helmet / Hat" out of the headpiece.
For a kuchi or turkmani
headpiece
Purchase some bias binding or similar to
match your hair colour, cut 3 lengths approx 12" / 30cm long. Attach a
piece of the cord / binding to the 3 points of the headpiece, one at the
centre top, and one on each end.
Make a loop in the end of the centre
piece of binding (from the top of the headpiece), thread the side / end pieces thru the
loop and adjust to fit, depending on how you wear your hair, the loop should
comfortably sit a your nape. Once this is fitted sew it all up so that you
can just plonk it on and secure it with bobby pins, or you could leave the
side pieces not sewn and tie them each time you want to wear it.
The ties can be hidden with scarves,
flowers or your own hair or they could be made decorative with coins /
shells whatever.
If you wear your hair up in a bun or
similar this "helmet" will still work, maybe the centre cord will need to be
longer to wrap once around the base of the bun then continue to your nape to
be secured with the side ties.
Hope this helps.
